Parental Kitchen Remodel: Before and After

Let me preface this by mentioning that my family didn't know about this blog until recently. The Mister is painfully (and psychotically, sometimes) private and I was afraid he would freak out and kill me frown on it when he found out. Well, he saw the name of the site in the Most Visited list (which is how he accesses his beloved Craigslist) and was all "Is that our Little Pink House"? and I'm all "Maybe?" And he was all "Ok". Ummm. Awesome.
So I told my mother about it and she, of course, had to check out her posts first and noticed that I totally dropped the ball and neglected to show you guys a proper Before & After of their kitchen remodel. Remember that lack of follow thru I mentioned last January? Yup. Hasn't improved.

BEFORE
Removed the wall the clock is hanging on.
AFTER
Opposite angle, there used to be a wall here!

I just love the bookshelf she added for her oodles of cookbooks, what a great use of vertical space:

And the convenient file storage in the desk:

What do you think? It's crazy how different it looks, isn't it?

If you missed the first four remodel posts, you can see them here, here, here, and here Wow, I really do suck; these were from May!

Wow, that is a gorgeous remodel! Hard to believe you didn't post the before & after pics sooner - I would have been dying to post them! :) I'll have to go back through and read the other posts, since I'm a newbie to your blog. :)

my b/f is the same way...i have never shared a pic of him, and it took me a while to even have my little icon be a pic of me. he knows i blog, tho, but no other family and friends do. well, no i have 1 friend read, but that's it. and i like it that way!

Holy balls, that is gorgeous! I don't normally like wood cabs, but those look great in there.

Wow! It doesn't even look like the same space. I'm a sucker for floor ceiling cabinetry.

And, I'm totally shocked that no one knew about your blog. I am an open book about everything, and I expect my husband to read every post, which he does. ;)

GORGEOUS!!! I love that you took the cabinets all the way to the ceiling!!

Someday (probably never) I'd love to do that! For now, I'll just drool over yours. :)

Absolutely lovely!! So Soothing! I just have to ask, though, did you get any sense of the space seeming smaller because the cabinets now go to the ceiling? Of course it's probably hard to say because you took out a wall--just curious.
