January's Goals

At the beginning of the month I set some January goals.

January Goals:

Hang the gallery wall.  Nope. In fact this is what the television wall looks like right now.
We hooked up the surround sound system upstairs so we could have the PS2 and the Wii hooked up at the same time and now the optical cable isn't flexible enough to remount the t.v. flush to the wall. Um.... Boo.
Hang art in the bedroom. It's been sitting on the dresser for 4 months now...  Yay!
Make a new coffee table/ottoman for the living room. Um, no. Not even close.
Make the leopard pillows I talked about last month. Nope.

Eh, I didn't do so great.

Oh and it only took me three weeks to kill our new plant friend.

It doesn't look as bad in these pics as in real life, but it's totally and completely dead and I have no idea how. I followed the directions exactly. Meh.

On the positive side, our Paperwhites bloomed.
And boy, are they lovely.
BUT, they smell like ass. Seriously. The Mr. says they smell like manure, but manure smells like cookies compared to these. I would rather my entire house smelled like a farm in the heat of summer than these flowers...  Ugh. They are disgusting. Repugnant. Blech.

How are your 2011 goals coming along so far?

The paperwhites are gorg. Although thank god they've bloomed bc I despise unbloomed pw's, they look creepy. Not just yours, all of them.

I'm sort of notorious for setting goals and never making them so this year I tried to keep it simple:

So far I haven't done so great at the exercise more, but I've progress regarding engage more/enjoy more

Here's to accomplishing more of our goals in February :)

Hmmm. Sorry about the plant. I kill everything I touch too. Maybe you can push some of this stuff into February and see how you do!

I have trouble keeping plants alive too. I have a mission though that I will learn how to take care of them properly. Right now I have a small ivy in a glass container and it's doing ok. Not great, but ok. It's still green. I actually have the best luck with live plants when they are in my frog tank but the pump broke and that made 'em all die (the plants, not frogs). Maybe it's all about moisture?! My little cacti are doing well and it's going on three years for those babies. We just won't mention the 10+ cacti that we killed as we tried to winter them over in our basement...

That's why I have exactly one plant in my house - if I had to divide my attention up between multiples I have no doubt I'd kill them all. You're ahead of the game in my book :)

It's so true that paperwhites smell horrible. I love the look of them, but damn.... horrific

Dude, the paperwhites are very strong scented. But I don't necessarily hate the smell. Glad yours finally bloomed!

You're too funny! Those paperwhites look really pretty. I'd look for some myself, but maybe not after hearing about how they smell?? That's unfortunate.
