I'm Featured!!!

Check it out at Better After! She even took the time to Photoshop out the telephone jack and the soon to be curtain rod from the pic! Awesome. I need to get me some fancy-dancy technology like that...

Monkey Love

BEWARE OF DOG

Innocent. Content. Just enjoying his spoiled rotten life.
Who? Me?
Then I made the mistake of touching the beast with the vacuum while it was on.

Whoops.

Bad mommy.

Really?

We're klassy here outside the StL. Redneck 4-eva, baby!

It does make me giggle.

I saw this one on my way home last week:
And this one the week before that:

They're from Florida, though, so you can't blame the boonies for that.

Happy Birthday Christi!

My little cousin turned 21 on July 27th! Last Saturday her friends threw a big shindig and they invited me! I felt so special and I got carded three times! Awesome. I think that was my favorite part of the whole night. You know, not that I didn't enjoy seeing this:

about 20 times! She was sleeping on her boyfriend by the second stop and (old lady that I am) I called it a night around 10:30... I know, I suck. But I had a lot of fun and so did the rest of 'em.

See the pink jug? It had water in it to keep her hydrated. Some sorority thing. It was all blinged out.

Goofy future clothing designer and her fabulouso hair do-ist!
We were downtown and people were taking carriage rides. Isn't this a beautiful horse?

Quick Fix: Put a Rug on it

Before

After

It's amazing how something as simple as a rug can completely transform a room. It's also amazing how deplorable my photography skills are. I'm inclined to blame my camera...

Oh. Do you see the diner clock in the top left of the "After" pick? Yup. This is what it looked like later that same evening:

Awesome, right? The sticky hook FAILED miserably. I followed the directions; I cleaned the wall with rubbing alcohol, I pressed, I removed the hook and pressed some more, I waited an hour (or five) to hang the clock on it. Grr.

DIY:More Curtains for Super Cheap

I posted back in March about the tie-ups I made for the dining room windows out of LENDA drapes from Ikea. I also mentioned that I bought a butt-load of LENDA's thinking I would coordinate everything. We have high ceilings, it has been difficult to find curtains long enough to work, and I may have mentioned once or twice that I am out of cash. So in the interest of working with what I've got:

Master Bedroom Drapes Before

Master Bedroom Drapes After

And once again, I apologize for my horrific photography skills.

I got the idea to add ric-rac trim from this pic:

Suburban Spunk via Better After
I still need to add a layer of stiff fabric at the top to keep it from folding over, but I think it looks better than the plain curtains.

It was super simple too. The rolls of ric-rac from Hobby Lobby just happen to be 3 yards each which is perfect for my 100 inch curtains! I used 8 rolls of trim. I waited for it to go on sale, so each roll rang in between $1.50 and $2.00. Not too shabby.

I decided how far from the edge I wanted it, pinned it in place, then sewed over it all. Easy peasy.

It was fairly labor intensive, but super simple. If I was a "finish-a-project-when-you-start-it" kind of girl, I bet it wouldn't take more than four hours, max. Apparently Suzanne (at Suburban Spunk) used no-sew hem tape to keep hers on, so if you don't have a sewing machine, no problem!

I'm linking up to The CSI Project's Fabric & Sewing Challenge and Thrifty Chick Decor's Before & After Party. Join me or just come check out all the superfantastic projects!

My Precious

I think Gidget is going to be June Cleaver for Halloween. Now I just have to figure out how to get her to keep a wig on her head and whether or not the beast will wear a sweater.
