Finally...

I have finished the cafe curtains for my kitchen.

 I just realized that you cannot see ANY details in the pattern. It's dark as I'm writing this, but let me try to get a detail shot....

And wouldn't you know, now that I am done with them, I am bored with them. I have been very inspired by all the linen and burlap fabrics that have been circulating around lately and now I want to do them again in burlap.

BTW: Making It Lovely is my inspiration for my living room. I love the way she combines mid-century, modern, and antiques. I even swiped her wall color! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?
However, considering it took me 5 months to finish the first set, I think I will have to live with them for at least a few months. I think if I told Mister I wanted to start on a new set he might kill me. hehe.

Fabric Question.

Can I wash Dry Clean Only 100% cotton fabric? Like if I want to make my cafe curtains out of this:



But it says:

• 100% Cotton
• Dry Clean, Do Not Wash

Can I wash it? On delicate? In cold water?

Bandwagon

I think I want the Chaing Mai Dragon fabric for my cafe curtains in the kitchen. I want something bold and colorful that has some red in it. I think it will work in either the Laquer (red) or the Alabaster colorway. Although the Alabaster looks like it may be more pinky or coral than red.

I just realized there is a Schumacher showroom in St. Louis. Anybody know someone in the area who could escort me there? Or where I can check out the fabrics in person without an Interior Decorator in tow?

I need "cafe curtains" for my kitchen windows.

When we first moved in there were curtains and the first thing I did (literally) was take down the ugly, faded, stained, flowered-y panels of ancient fabric. Now I can not find any that will fit. I found a fabric I like in the Ikea catalog:

But we don't have an Ikea anywhere near us. And shipping is astronomical. I have checked all the fabric stores around here and I can't find anything I like. Plus, buying fabric would involve me sewing, which I have not done in about 10 years. I have a sewing machine. My mom bought me a lovely white Singer for Christmas two years ago, but I tend to make excuses and I never learned to use the silly thing. I want them to be nice from outside, as well, so they would need to be double-faced. The windows are an awkward size, 21"L x 27"H and I would want two 15" panels per window(there are 5 windows). Does anyone know someone who can make me curtains? Preferably someone near an Ikea who is willing to take a custom order?
